Crew Training and Outreach Coordinator | Expert Witness
Katy is a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a wide range of experience as both a practioner and trainer in all areas of the social care sector. Katy currently coordinates the training work of Crew and is at the forefront of developing national training for the Scottish Government in the field of New Psychoactive substances (legal highs) and emerging trends. She is part of the Crew’s expert witness team with specialisms in the area of new psychoactive substances, psychostimulants and opiates.
Katy has experience of facilitating training with a variety of training groups, including professionals from organisations such as Tullialan Police College, Alcohol and Drug Partnerships throughout Scotland, The NHS and final year Medical Students at The Royal Edinburgh Hospital right through to service users and young people.
At Crew, Katy also coordinates the outreach work which involves a variety of outreach activities including running welfare services at events and festivals. This work involves regular direct contact with recreational and habitual drug users, giving her in depth knowledge of the types and quantities of drugs commonly used.
A member of the CIPD and qualified in Training Practice she also has qualifications in counselling and social care. She recently commenced an SVQ level 4 in Leadership and Management of Care Services and has undergone training with Crew on the role and duties of an Expert Witness in the criminal justice sector. This training involves seminars with lawyers, moot court sessions, practice report writing and a period of supervised report writing.
Previous training positions include the national training provider STRADA and Turning Point Scotland. Katy has significant course design experience so is able to tailor training sessions to your every need. Katy is passionate about applying creative learning techniques to ensure sessions are stimulating as well as informative. This experience and skills set, ensure an exciting and engaging learning experience.
